Pai para Jantar (Dad for Dinner)
There are many things between an intimate encounter and the magic of the stage, but what is the shortest distance between those two moments? «Pai para Jantar» is a clever game with the audience that digs into the details of masculinity with poetry and good-humour. It plays with the ways in which we deploy words, feelings, and archetypes around the idea of «being a man». The performance is a subjective journey towards the ballast that is our father, that remains in our personality and is at the origin of so many desires and failures.
Gaya de Medeiros so far created four shows, which have travelled to more than 15 countries and 26 cities. She also founded BRABA with the aim of promoting actions led by trans and non-binary people. De Medieros’ research centres on the expansion of autobiographical narratives and the tension between the body, the word and the audience.
Following the performance on 15.5. there will be a discussion with the artists at 20:10.
Easy Read
Some things we find typically masculine, others not. Gaya takes a close look at what happens when. And she asks herself why this is the case. Sometimes it's because of what your own father has shown and told you.
