The PROGR, a centre for cultural production in the heart of Bern, is a vibrant place for contemporary art, culture, and exchange. How to get there
PROGR is located in the center of Bern, just a five-minute walk from the train station. The easiest way to get to PROGR from the train station is on foot or by bike. All the streets along the way to PROGR are very busy and well-lit both during the day and in the evening, as there are many shops and restaurants in the area.
On foot
From Bern Train Station: about 5 minutes
From Bahnhofplatz, walk down Bollwerkstrasse to number 25, then turn right onto Speichergasse. This will take you quickly to your destination, which is located on the left side of the street in the large PROGRS building.
From Tojo Theater: about 7 minutes
The Tojo Theater is located in the Reitschule alternative cultural center. From the Tojo Theater, cross the Schützenmatte plaza and turn onto Speichergasse.
From Schlachthaus Theater: about 8 minutes
From the Schlachthaus Theater, take Rathausgasse to Waisenhausplatz, where you’ll soon reach the PROGR via Speichergasse.
By public transportation
From Bern Bahnhof: Bus 20
Take bus 20 one stop to “Bollwerk,” then turn onto Hodlergasse and proceed to Speichergasse.
From Dampfzentrale: Bus 30
Take bus 30 (this line runs only in the evening) from “Dampfzentrale” to “Bern Bahnhof.” From there, walk or transfer to the line described above.
From Schlachthaus Theater (5-minute walk): Tram 9
From “Zytglogge,” take tram 9 toward “Bern Bahnhof.” Then transfer to one of the lines described above under “From Bern Bahnhof.”
From Tojo Theater
The Tojo Theater is very close by; there is no public transportation connection between the two.
By bike
From Bern train station: about 1 minute
From the train station, ride down Bollwerkstrasse to number 25, then turn right onto Speichergasse. This will take you quickly to your destination, which is located in the courtyard of the Progr on the left-hand side.
By Car
Within walking distance (5 minutes) of PROGR is Schützenmatte, located at Neubrückstrasse 2, 3012 Bern, which offers a few parking spaces for people with mobility impairments. There are also a few parking spaces for people with mobility impairments on nearby Hodlerstrasse. The nearest covered parking facility to PROGR is Metroparking, Waisenhausplatz 19. There are 3 parking spaces for people with mobility impairments and 10 secure “women’s” parking spaces. The parking garage is well-lit 24/7.
