This is the 40th edition of auawirleben! We could have had a big anniversary gala, invited lots of VIPs and reminisced a bit about the past. But that doesn't suit us, a) because we can't decide who our VIPs are and b) because we'd rather celebrate twelve times than once. That's why we celebrate every day, and always for exactly 40 minutes. Not a minute longer - and please not a minute shorter! With each of these instant parties, we don't just want to celebrate auawirleben, but the values that are important to us.

The parties are designed by different hosts, each with a theme. What exactly happens is up to the hosts. And each party gets its «signature drink».

WED 4.5. | Opening Party

Host: aua team
Drink: Apéro for all!

The first anniversary party is also the festival opening. Obviously hosted by the aua team, that’s a matter of honour! Besides the obligatory opening speech, there will be snacks, appetizers and really good aua sound (what's that?! Come and find out) for everyone. And of course the opportunity to marvel at the Festival Centre, celebrate the reunion with friends and simply look forward to aua 2022 finally getting underway.

THUR 5.5. | squeeze me gently - a celebration of care and queerness

Host: Tyra Wigg
Drink: Basil Squeeze

«To me, care means to pay extra attention to something with the sole purpose to help it into its subjective state of well-being. Queering my view of myself and my world makes me feel well, because it allows a wonderful diversity to integrate in me.
It takes a lot of care to be queer in this world, and as a host<3ess of the squeeze me gently party I invite you to my caring journey. First, I will play a seductive and groovy selection of my favorite songs, and you might not be able to resist dancing with me. Then I invite you to sit or lay down and feel your body flow whilst I share a audiovisual massage to a backdrop of ambient softening tunes.»

FRI 6.5. | Future Generation Party

Host: Jim
Drink: Rainbow Beach

«We're children. We can't imagine what our future will be like. We might dance or we might not. In any case, We are looking forward to a happy vibes at our party.»

SAT 7.5. | elephant in the room

Host: FairSpec with Susanne Abelein, Gabi Mojzes, Diana Rojas-Feile
Drink: Secco libre rosso, Secco libre orange, Secco libre niebeski, Secco libre e bardhë, Secco libre fekete, Secco libre kijani, Secco libre lila, Secco libre ki, Secco libre red

«The saying quoted in the title points to obvious problems and taboos that cannot be (addressed). There are also many such elephants in the room in theatre and dance. But our FairSpec elephants are different: they stand for diversity, respect, solidarity, responsibility and commitment. And they want to be addressed! Drinking Secco libre of any colour, dancing to songs of different languages, not wanting to understand everything. Overcoming fears. Easy.»

SUN 8.5. | You and I

Host: Thibault Schiemann
Drink: Chai tea

«Behind every face a new story, in every connection a new world. You and I is a small ritual to dive into the life of another person, driven by your own curiosity. The ritual takes you step by step through interpersonal interaction and allows for a meaningful encounter away from any small talk.»

MON 9.5. | Black Visibility Party

Host: Nelia Tubajiki and DJ Dolce Banana
Dink: Dark and Stormy

«Party to celebrate Black Visibility in all spaces. Let's create a safe space where people can dance and celebrate, but also challenge individual and social racisms. Each person helps to promote a racially critical future or way of life by writing down on a piece of paper how this could be done. (BIPOC: Something you want or need from allies. White People / Allies: Something you want to happen in the future).»

TUE 10.5. | No Gatekeeper Party

Host: no gatekeeper, no host
Drink: no gatekeeper, no barkeeper (mix your own)

The aua team sometimes struggles with the usual mechanisms of festival organisation, because after all, the design of a festival programme is entirely in our hands. And that's why we're relinquishing this role completely for these 40 minutes: everyone mixes their own drinks and decides on the music selection. So, off to the bar and to the DJ booth with you!

WED 11.5. | Obfuscate! Make yourself unrecognisable

Host: Roland Fischer and Nora Lune
Drink: Incocnito

«A make-up course to outsmart facial recognition software.
More and more cameras are capturing us in more and more everyday activities. And they all want to identify us, categorise us, analyse us. Not only in China, but also in our country: the pleasant feeling of anonymity is being lost, you can never be quite sure where a profile match is being made. Digital convenience and arbitrariness? No, my data and my face belong to me. With a few simple make-up tricks, we can outsmart facial recognition and walk through the city unrecognised again - at least by the machines. There are also instructions on how the strategy of "obfuscation" also works in other digital contexts.»

THUR 12.5. | Aua, Helvetiarockt!

Host: Helvetiarockt
Drink: Bloody Mary

«Helvetiarockt wants to abolish itself!
But not before everyone gets a slice of the music pie.
Help achieve that.
Take responsibility.
As an individual. As an organisation. As a movement.

Helvetiarockt is a nationally active association that campaigns for more women and non-binary people in music. Since 2009, they have been making music more accessible, promoting and networking professional musicians and raising awareness in the industry. Helvetiarockt identifies fails, points out alternatives and finds concrete solutions together with all those involved. They demand the representation of the diversity of our society in all areas and stand up for a lively music industry.

And apparently there's no party without them. - DJ's: Addobaja Music Lab»

FRI 13.5. | Blindlings in ä ghörigi Party

Hosts: Laila Grillo and Daniel Fernandes
Drink: Aviation

«Why not have a slightly different party? The audience is given dark glasses at the entrance and spends the beginning dancing in complete darkness. Ideally, you don't go to the party alone. This way, there is always a sighted person who can lead. And, of course, if you like, you can dance longer with the dark glasses and experience the whole party with your other senses.»

SAT 14.5. | 40 minutes of deafness, aua?

Hosts: Cornelia Knuchel, Cyril Steiger, Denise Ledermann
Drink: Ingroni

A 40-minute experience of how deafness can be perceived. Will it be a painful or an enchanting aua experience?

SUN 15.5. | Legacy Party

Hosts: aua team
Drink: Rosé
