One lived on the street. One was beaten at school. One did not know the language. One was in prison. One has a house by the sea. Both come from middle class families. Both have used drugs. Both are actors. Both have several children. Both care deeply about their profession. Both act in films. Both know unemployment. One receives state support. One works in the informal sector without social security. One plays in "soft game" mode. One plays in "hard game" mode. "Dos Vidas. Zwei Leben examines the biographies of two actor friends and subjects them to a stress test: Jorge was born in May 1985 in Oruro in the Bolivian Altiplano, Nicola in October 1978 in Berlin. Who gets to which position with which global starting capital?

Inequality is the explosive in the global system of the next decades. Demarcations from trouble spots and supposed security guarantees of the West are collapsing in the age of climate change and exhausted growth models. According to the Human Development Index, an internationally recognised ranking of the development of the countries of this world, which also takes into account factors such as the level of education, Bolivia is in 107th place, Germany in 5th place, and Switzerland together with Ireland in 2nd place. Can a 'global inequality' be read in the lives of Jorge and Nicola? Did one of them draw the worse lot in the 'lottery of birth'? To what extent does each of the two represent the conditions under which they grew up?

The performance on 11.5 will be followed by a conversation.

Jorge Arias Cortez and Nicola Fritzen know each other from KLARA's research project "Palmasola", a performative re-enactment of the Bolivian prison town of the same name and the social survival strategies used by the prisoners. Unfortunately, the production had to be cancelled on auawirleben 2020 due to the pandemic.
