Brüder, zur Sonne, zur Freiheit
The performance lasts 8 hours and runs every day from 13:00 to 21:00. During this time you are free to attend the performance, although you do not have to stay in for the whole 8 hours. We recommend at least 30 minutes for your visit. The ticket sale ends at 1 pm on the day. Tickets are still available on site.
Labour migration is an everyday reality in Europe. Eastern European workers do monotonous jobs for cheap wages so that the West can quickly and cheaply order books, clothes or home accessories from the internet. It's practical and convenient, and we rarely think about the people behind these processes and their own private stories.
«Brüder, zur Sonne, zur Freiheit» shows a robotised distribution centre in which ten Bulgarian performers, who have experience as labour migrants, sing a historic labour song for eight hours long. Their work breaks are derived from those at well-known multinational online store. By juxtaposing robotics and singing, the performance questions the value of the working body, the labour movement, and the legacy of socialism in times of automatization.
«Brüder, zur Sonne, zur Freiheit» (English title: «Brothers exalt thee to freedom») will be performed in German for the first time at auawirleben.
On 8.5. at 17:00 there will be an audience discussion.

Dries Verhoeven is a theatre maker and visual artist. He creates installations, performances and happenings in museums, theatres, on location and in the public spaces of cities. On the boundary between performance and installation art, he critically evaluates the relationships between the spectators, performers, everyday reality and art. The spectator is directly involved in the work or given the opportunity to steer his or her own experiences.

Translation into sign language
On 7.5. from 17:00-18:00 the performance (a song sung in German) will be translated into sign language (DSGS). Interpreter: Tanja Joseph
For people with vision disabilities
On 8.5. at 12:30 we offer a touch tour of the stage for people with visual impairments. Following this, the performance is also understandable without a visual level. Grosse Halle is equipped with tactile ground surface indicators.
Relaxed Performance
All performances are Relaxed Performances. The audience space is not completely darkened. There are no loud noises. The audience is allowed to go out and come back in during the performance. Everyone can decide for themselves how long they want to stay in the room. The audience is not expected to sit completely still. You are allowed to move around the room. There are various cushions and seat mats available at the entrance, which may be taken inside.
For people with mobility disabilities
Grosse Halle is accessible barrier-free. There is a small ramp on the way to the hall. The theatre has a barrier-free toilet.
