We assume we see the same things, we experience similar sensations, we are able to discuss about a common image. But how do we know that we are actually talking about the same? Reality, our reality, exists in our minds and is influenced by our evolutionary, social and personal background. Working together at a distance means creating together, feeding together, an invisible sculpture from two different places. Do I see what you see? Do we mean the same thing? How do we make our images meet? «From invisible state to invisible state» is an attempt to bring to life, let appear, what is not physically there, but can be there if our minds let it exist.

Marie Popall was born in Berlin and lives and works in Bern, where she completed her studies iof Expanded Theatre at the Hochschule der Künste. In her works on the border between dance, theatre and performance art, she addresses questions of identity, sexuality and physical histories. As an actress, she was part the ensemble of Konzert Theater Bern from 2018 to 2020, where she will continue to appear on stage as a guest. Popall has been working closely with the artist Natascha Moschini since 2016. In the collaboration Moschini/Popall, she premiered her first full-length work «Soft Tissue» at Dampfzentrale Bern in 2019. Her second work «When mama was moth, I took bulb form (AT)» is currently being created, the premiere is planned for autumn 2021. Popall is represented in this year's PREMIO young talent competition with her solo project «Die Hundsköpfige».

Francesca Lazzeri graduated from the Amsterdam University of Arts (Mime Education) with a degree in visual and physical performing arts in 2016. Since her graduation she’s been actively working as a theatremaker, dramaturg, adviser/mentor at the mime education and as a physical performer. Until 2019 she has been making performances with the performance collective Wild Vlees. Afterwards she continued creating work under her own name. Francesca distinguishes herself for her uncompromising, outspoken and direct signature. Her work is highly visual and often physically demanding. Her performances address the visitors in their intimate and personal space, questioning and problematising how we live with one another in western European countries.

About the project «Änet em Bärg»

With the pandemic, theatremakers currently not only lack the opportunity to perform, but also the opportunity to build networks and embark on new collaborative adventures. With the project «Änet em Bärg» (beyond the mountain), we’re trying to facilitate this nevertheless. We made a call-out to Bernese theatre and dance professionals are interested in participating in an international collaboration project. We then connected the two selected artists, Sandra Forrer and Marie Popall, with two international artists, Iggy Malmborg from Malmö and Francesca Lazzeri from Amsterdam. The aim of the two pairings is to develop a project together without travelling for the rehearsals or the performance. Both teams have every freedom in terms of form and content.
