At pub quizzes, a keen audience meets in a pub and forms ambitious teams. The quiz leader asks questions, often divided into thematic blocks. The questions relate to current everyday knowledge and there is usually also the obligatory sports question and a music puzzle. And pub quizzes are currently booming in Bern. Such evenings take place regularly in several pubs and are usually sold-out immediately. And it's not uncommon to find the clever clogs of the aua team there, too.

The fact that the company Kaleider suggested «A Pub Quiz» by British artist Yara El-Sherbini for our programme is therefore a perfect fit. Come and test your useful and useless knowledge on this evening of fun and games. With fantastic prizes of course!

Yara El-Sherbini is an interdisciplinary artist who uses humour and play to create socially and politically engaged art. She has worked for the National Trust, the Venice Biennale and BAM in New York, among others. In addition to her work as an individual artist, she is also part of the duo «Yara and Davina».

«A Pub Quiz» is part of the Bring a Friend format. In 2022, we launched an attempt to question and soften our role as gatekeepers in the curating process. We asked three of our invited companies to nominate artists from their own local context for our programme, who have not yet toured much internationally. Yara El-Sherbini were invited by Kaleider, who are presenting Arch at aua this year.

Easy Read

A pub quiz is a competition with various questions. You answer them together with others in a team. This pub quiz is a bit special. But it will definitely be fun!

The Pub Quiz is accessible without the visual layer. In each team, one person is responsible for writing down the answers. Zentrum Markus is equipped with tactile ground surface indicators. If you attend the event with a service dog, you can of course bring it into the hall.

Zentrum Markus is wheelchair accessible. The back part of the space is accessible via a ramp. The accessible toilet is located in the building Annex at Zentrum Markus. The key for the building is available at the bar.
