Access Crash Course 11–17 May
Basics, funding, measures

Auawirleben is constantly developing its long-term commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Building on the ideas and methods developed in recent editions of the festival, auawirleben is offering a crash course on accessibility for Swiss theatre and dance professionals for the second time. The Access Crash Course, or ACC for short.

Over the course of a full week, participants will take part in workshops led by various experts. The ACC programme covers the basics of accessibility, funding opportunities for accessibility measures, and provides practical tools to make theatre and dance productions more accessible to a diverse audience. Daily sign language lessons, performance visits, discussions and opportunities for exchange complement the course.

Digital Technologies and Augmented Realities in Theatre 10 May | 10:00–17:00
Input & Workshop with Sarah Buser

Reality and our engagement with it have long since ceased to exist solely within physical space. We encounter this expansion into digital, networked dimensions as a matter of course in our everyday lives. In theatre, too, we can use digital technologies such as ‘augmented and virtual reality’ to create expanded and navigable realities in which hybrid co-presence is explored and stories are told through interactive dramaturgy. In this full-day workshop for professional theatre practitioners, Sarah Buser will present exemplary works and offer a practical insight into dramaturgical concepts, technical possibilities (AR, VR, Unity game engine) and artistic strategies for working with XR technologies.

Sarah Buser is a director, dramaturg, programmer and lecturer. In her work on participatory, theatrical game environments, she combines narration, code and fiction to make theoretical concepts and social phenomena interactively tangible. Info on Sarah Buser here.

Resilience? Not on your own. 14 May | 14:00–17:00
A lab for artists and representatives of small cultural institutions

Individual resilience is not enough. As part of our research project ‘Compass for Organisational Resilience’, we are exploring the resilience of small organisations in the performing arts. We do not view resilience as an individual trait, but rather focus on structural challenges and dynamics. We believe that this shift in perspective makes a difference, particularly in times of financial and political pressure. How can organisations remain agile when the environment is becoming increasingly unpredictable? What drains energy in day-to-day life, and what stabilising factors exist? In this lab, we want to pause and reflect: we bring insights from our research project – you bring your practical experience. Together with Dagmar Walser and Katja Sonnemann, we will train the muscle of resilience. More info here.
