The Festival takes place during April 23 and May 4 2008 in Berne, Switzerland. This will be the 26h edition of auawirleben. The overall theme will be “Generations”.

 

Venues: Schlachthaus Theater, Dampfzentrale, Paul Klee Zentrum, Vidmarhallen, Tojo Theater, all in Berne. Festival Centre: Turnhalle im Progr.

 

Annually for the last 26 years auawirleben has been combining independent theatre productions with productions of established theatre institutions. The festival presents an aesthetically interesting mixture which shows the development of today's theatre. For each festival edition there is a theme (a relevant question of human society), verbalised in a "code". During 10 days spectators and theatre artists get together and exchange themselves: independent as well as institutionalised groups, newcomers and well known groups meet within the festival. In the festival centre Progr there is a late night performance series going on, for artists and performers turning night into day.
